Creating a SQL Server 2012 Cluster (Part 2)

In part 2, we will install SQL Server on top of the cluster that we’ve created in the previous post. Once you launch the installer, go to the Advanced > then click Advanced cluster preparation.

Passed, click OK to proceed.

Accept the license terms then click Next.

Click Install.

Click Next.

Select the features to install. For me, it is the database engine and the management tool. Click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Enter the domain account and password for the services then click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Copy the configuration file at the bottom of the windows to the 2nd node, click Install.

Go to the 2nd node and launch the SQL Server installer. Go to Advanced > then click Install based on configuration file. Browse for the configuration file in the location where you copied it from the 1st SQL node. The rest of the installation is the same. You will realize that options will already be selected for you based on the 1st node’s configuration. There is one screen where you will need to enter the password for the accounts used.

Advanced cluster completion

Now click on the Advanced cluster completion

Click OK.

Click Next.

Give your SQL cluster a name. I called it SQLNetwork then click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.

image

 

Select the checkbox and then enter the SQL Cluster IP address.

Be careful what collation you select. Many System Center products have a different requirements for collation e.g. System Center 2012 Service Manager.

Click Add Current User then click Next.

Click Next.

image

 

Click Install.

The cluster setup is complete. Click Close.
